Beyond A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Seventh Edition, the new exam integrates content across project management, including business analysis and agile principles.

This workshop provides training on the domain and tasks outlined in the updated Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Exam Content Outline.

Workshop Outline

  • Domain 1: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the various project life cycles and processes.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of project management planning.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of project roles and responsibilities.
    • Determine how to follow and execute planned strategies or frameworks (e.g., communication, risks, etc.).
    • Demonstrate an understanding of common problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Domain 2: Predictive, Plan-Based Methodologies
    • Explain when it is appropriate to use a predictive, plan-based approach.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of a project management plan schedule.
    • Determine how to document project controls of predictive, plan-based projects.
  • Domain 3: Agile Frameworks/Methodologies
    • Explain when it is appropriate to use an adaptive approach.
    • Determine how to plan project iterations.
    • Determine how to document project controls for an adaptive project.
    • Explain the components of an adaptive plan.
    • Determine how to prepare and execute task management steps.
  • Domain 4: Business Analysis Frameworks
    • Demonstrate an understanding of business analysis (BA) roles and responsibilities.
    • Determine how to conduct stakeholder communication.
    • Determine how to gather requirements.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of product roadmaps.
    • Determine how project methodologies influence business analysis processes.
    • Validate requirements through product delivery.

CAPM® certification eligibility requirements

  • To be eligible for the CAPM® certification, you need a high school diploma, GED or global equivalent and must meet the project management education requirement.

    • Secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED (general educational development), or global equivalent, AND
    • 23 hours of project management education.

When you choose to record 23 contact hours of specific instruction that addressed learning objectives in project management, you must record all education hours regardless of when they were accrued.

As a PMI Authorized Training Partners (ATP), our workshop provides you with the necessary 23 hours of Project Management Education required for certification.

Examination Information

The CAPM® examination is comprised of 150 multiple-choice questions, drag-and-drop-style questions, and animations/comic strips to be completed within three hours. . Of the 150 questions, 15 are considered pretest (unscored) questions. 

For the CAPM® exam, there is now a 10-minute break in the exam. The break will appear after completion of questions 1–75 and after you have reviewed all your answers. Please note, once you review your responses and start your break, you will not be able to return to the questions from the previous exam section.

You have the flexibility to take the exam at a test center or at home as an online proctored exam.

The updated certification exam now encompasses four domain areas based on the new CAPM® Exam Content Outline:

  • Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%)
  • Predictive, Plan-Based Methodologies (17%)
  • Agile Frameworks/Methodologies (20%)
  • Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).
