STATIK (Systems Thinking Approach to Introducing Kanban) is a proven framework for successfully implementing Kanban in new contexts. This workshop is designed to guide you through the process of creating service-oriented Kanban systems, tailored to your team’s needs. 

During this one-day interactive course, you will learn what the Kanban Method is, the principles and practices of the Method, and how you can build your Kanban proficiency. You will learn the basics of visualizing different types of work and associated risks. You will learn how to design and implement a Team Kanban board_._ You will also learn how to proceed to the next level with Kanban.

This workshop is designed for professionals interested in Kanban or systems thinking. It’s perfect for those new to Kanban, as well as KSD alumni who want to expand their knowledge of STATIK.

Learning Objectives

In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn the essential principles of designing a Kanban System and optimizing workflows. By the end of the session, you will be equipped to:

  • 1.1. Explain STATIK, its purpose, and benefits.

  • 1.2. Per stage: I understand the purpose of the STATIK steps covered in this section. I can perform the STATIK steps in my context.

  • 1.3. Discover classes of service with their corresponding policies for their own Kanban systems.

  • 1.4. Explain what type of information needs to go on a ticket, and why.

  • 1.5. Design tickets suitable for the Kanban system which helps workers involved in making good pull decisions.

  • 1.6. Name a typical pattern for modeling specific cases like non-sequential work, different types of work, blockers, etc.

  • 1.7. Apply suitable patterns to design a Kanban board that closely models the workflow, item types, and other elements at hand.

  • 1.8. Construct the Kanban system based on information attained during the workshop.

  • 1.9. Address and solve sources of dissatisfaction with the Kanban System design.

All experience levels are welcome! No previous Kanban training or experience is required.
