PfMP® recognizes advanced experience, skill and performance necessary to manage and align a portfolio of projects and programs. PfMP® credential holders oversee the success of one or more portfolios, balance conflicting demands between programs and projects and allocate resources based on organizational priorities and capacity.

Gain and maintain your PfMP®

  • First phase of PfMP® evaluation is panel review
  • The certification exam has 170 multiple-choice questions, and you have four hours to complete.
  • To maintain your PfMP®, you must earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years.

PfMP® certification eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the PfMP® certification, you must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements.

Before you apply, make sure you meet one of the following sets of PfMP® Certification requirements:

  • Four-year degree
  • 48 months of portfolio management experience
  • 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years

      or

  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree
  • 84 months of portfolio management experience
  • 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years
